In order to test my photo posting capabilities, I will inaugarate the blog with a cute photo that is not of a chicken. However, you may notice that it is, indeed, a photo with a bird in it.

The Frequently "Clucked" Questions Area
Q: What made you two decide to get chickens?
A: A few of our friends and coworkers have small chicken flocks, and we thought it was a great idea. After visiting a coworker's house who has a nice little henhouse and run in downtown Bozeman, MT my mind was set. Matt agreed to it shortly afterwards.
Q: Are you getting a rooster?
A: No. Roosters are loud, don't lay eggs, and are frequently very defensive (borderline violent).
Q: How many eggs are we talking about here?
A: It depends on a lot of things, but with 6 hens it is reasonable to guess we'll get about 4 or 5 eggs a day. That might slow down a lot in winter or when the hens are moulting their feathers. Some days we might get 6- but that will probably be rare.
Q: Are you going to sell these eggs, or start taking cholesterol medications?
A: Neither! We intend to eat a healthy amount of them and give the rest away to friends or the local food bank.
Q: Are you naming them?
A: Yes. They are named Mrs. Tweedy, Pot Pie, Rosie, Zippy, Beldar, Biggie Rockette and Littles Rockette. Pria (our rooster) now lives with another family where he is more welcome to crow and generally do rooster things.

Is it a chickadee? Such an awesome picture!
Yup- that is a Mountain Chickadee that I caught for research purposes. Their mating call sounds like they are saying, "Cheeeeese-burger."
"Cheeeeeeese-burger"? I guess they must be hungry little guys. I love chickadees. And chicks. Which is why I'm back at your blog. :)
